Creatures

Creatures is a Virtual Life game available on Windows and Mac systems whereby you, as the everpresent 'Hand', have the power to guide, teach, and influence the lives of a group of autonomous, intelligent animals known as Norns. The series was the first commercial title to feature simulated genetics and DNA which could be passed on to later generations through breeding.

Creatures was initially developed in the mid-1990s by Steve Grand at Millenium Interactive, and released by Mindscape in 1996. Later games in the series were developed by Cyberlife Technology (which in turn was eventually renamed to Creature Labs after Steve left the team to pursue his own research).
